You don't say but this looks like a flash image taken at night. Outstanding image and post work. Perhaps it is the "night" shot look and your wonder at what might be eating the leaves but I imagine a plant vampire visiting from time to time and the terror of this plant as it is slowly eaten alive. And, yes, that idea came to me while I was completely sober.
