How it was done
The layers created in Photoshop
The layers against a black background for clarity.
The Haze layer is just a big blob of white in the middle with the Gaussian Blur filter applied. I didn't want it to cover the entire picture which would have made it less realistic. The beams are round white brush marks with the Motion Blur applied - I made sure that the angle of the motion blur was the same as the angle of the light hitting the floor from a window which is not visible on the left. Just a comment on the settings for the blur effects. There are no hard and fast rules, it will depend on how big the image is in pixels and also your own personal taste. I could have added more haze and more particles, thicker beams but i preferred more subtle effects in this image.
( I positioned a distant light in Daz Studio outside the set to create the shapes of light on the floor in the render Getting the light the way I wanted took trial and error.)
The dust particles I created using a brush, which you can make following this tutorial on youtube. He also explains how to create the beams from the particles. I made mine a different way because I wanted big sheets of light instead of smaller beams in his example.
