Yeah, that's happening more and more in my Job as designer. The benefit of designing something in 3D is that you can give a real impression of the product before you just started manufacturing anything at all. The drawback of this is,that if you come along with such a presentation, the sales people and marketing people (and often even the customer) get the impression, that it is already available on stock and they want it right now. Unfortunately, in that state there is a lot of work ahead, before a product is ready to sale....
