Description

Captured 2/19/09. I didn't have a camera with a LCD monitor at that time, so I risked falling over backwards with this shot.

well, this time, instead of starting early and working up to the present, I'm starting at the present and working my way back...I love this big, monumental shot of a palm tree, and I can understand almost falling over, as this is the kind of shot where it's hard to get your balance afterwards...It's really fun to see all those furrows making their way up the trunk, to the little 'shangri-la' atop (palm trees always seemed like a fairy tale tree to me, as there are no branches or leaves until the very top). A fun but also imposing shot, and the fact that you got nothing else in the shot makes this feel like a mound or ancient primal ritual structure. I really like this.
