Description
I have heard these are a type of cactus. in Mexico a cactus that grows very tall that looks more like a tree, has a flower at the top. some people harvest the flowers to eat

That's a yucca, I believe. I'm no expert on plants, but I don't know if this is classified a cactus or not.. I do know they have that tall stalk and it's beautiful when it blooms as you've captured beautifully here. We used to have a couple of these at our old house, but didn't bring them with us.

yes, a yucca. I have them in my yard, they stay green all winter and they like the heat.

Yuccas are not a type of cactus. They grow all over the southwest and we even have them here in Missouri in sandy areas. They make deep taproots and are next to impossible to get rid of (yes some people consider them weeds) I love them though. The Joshua Trees in California are a type of yucca and Joshua tree national forest is a lovely area to visit. This is a gorgeous picture of the flowers (which are edible though I've never tried them)
