I had an idea to pass through Pueblo to take a highway to Lamar,Co so I could go south into the Oklahoma Panhandle area as I had never been there. I ran out of daylight so I continued into Texas last night spending the night at Dumas,TX.
I was able to complete a few things that I always wanted to do such as the North Rim of Grand Canyon, Navajo National Monument with both in Arizona. I continued to the Monument Valley that is on Navajo property. while there a vibration noise started in the front area of my 4Runner, so I went to Durango,Co (planned) to a Toyota dealership. they put it on a lift and found that one of the bolts for the skid plate (protects the engine and transmission) had been twisted off. the last dealership that had to take the plate off to do an oil change was where I bought it. instead of the technician telling his supervisor or fixing the bolt he ignored it. the road in in Monument Valley is very rough. if you have a rattle it will show up big time.
I continued North from Durango on the Million Dollar Highway and then to the Rocky Mountain National Park which were two more things crossed as to do

last Tuesday I left going to Las Vegas to visit some relatives. after spending the night there, I went to Utah, Arizona, Utah again. then to Colorado 3500 miles worth and enjoyed ever part except the busted bolt. at one point in Colorado it dropped to 36 F. which felt great as Las Vegas was in the 90's

My sister was lucky to visit inside a B29 that was still in flying condition. She showed me many photos about it; I was very impressed. That plane stayed at a small airport near her home for only a weekend. I had no time for coming and visiting it.

You are lucky you got the bolt fixed before it left you in a most precarious place or situation! Could have had a bad accident too! That oil changer should lose his job for being so careless! Glad you survived to tell the tale! A wonderful photo here! Sounds like you had a nice time on your break! More photos to follow?

wow, looks like a super place to visit β your nut tale reminds me of a wheel change on the motor where the idiot with the powered drill did them so tight it took a day of soaking in release oil to get the off the next time... such people

Huge engines on those birds, the original R-3350 had 18 cylinders whilst the R-4360s had 24 cylinders generating 3500 bhp. These engines are still used for racing.

Beautiful capture !!

Interesting. The bold story reminded me about the wheel nuts of my car that weren't tighten and on the car of my sister she was less lucky, they lost the wheel, luckily at low speed on the off ramp of a highway, they just came from the mountains. Nice capture in a crowded museum.

It is very good!

Dang - when you take a trip, you REALLY take a trip, Richard! Great shot of the B-29, and the inside of the museum!
That's just an irresponsible technician that worked on your 4Runner. As much as they charge for labor there's no excuse for that. I'd grab a manager there when you get back and have a heart-to-heart talk...

Great picture of that veteran aircraft. One visit I sadly missed on my own travels in the region.
