Description

This is an example of an unlicensed crew stateroom for two occupants. The tour members who had served time in the merchant marine were envious. One remarked that his time in 1981 would have found these rooms very nice indeed. What is an unlicensed crewman? I'm going to bow out of the line of fire as I have no personal experience as a merchant mariner. Dr. Wikipedia has the following (if you follow the link): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seafarer%27s_professions_and_ranks Looking at these quarters, I have to agree with the fellow tour member; this are not bad digs. The next (preceding) image helps explain why. However, the docent pointed out that every stateroom has its own porthole for natural light. Something to be said for that stuff. Enjoy; thanks for viewing. Here's a quiz for you: Why are the living / sleeping quarters called staterooms? No prize except bragging rights at the local.
