Description
My first Doctor was William Hartnell. From him I imbibed the notion that the Doctor should possess a certain gravitas, as well as many eccentricities of fashion. Over the years I have seen that gravitas evaporate, as the Doctors have come to resemble Blue Peter presenters on speed.
I accept it is essentialy a children's programme, and it is cool to believe that there are no actual grownups anymore, but watching Jodie Whittaker exhibit a manic attention deficit was not working for me. Zero gravitas. Tilda Swinton might have worked, with a good script, certainly Cate Blanchet.
I was messing around with 3D and realised I was sort of "recreating" the new Doctor. She began to look like an avant-garde red-brick university lecturer, the sort they have on BeeB 4 talking about sexual mores in the 18th century. But I thought, perhaps I can still save this. Lets have some companions.
Anyway, the new Doctor, plucked from my brain. Her companions are Ibrahim, a street musician she saved from tuberculosis in Mogadishu. And Magda, a German info-anarchist who suffers from anxiety, mood swings, and periodic bouts of self-medication with chemicals not yet invented.
So, does anyone want to watch my version? There is gravitas, And sarcasm. And actual irritability.
