The night prior Cynthia was on a flight from Mexico. A large nest of vampires had been discovered and as part of the agreement between the U.S., Canada and Mexico; DOMA (the Department of Magical Affairs) would send agents in to assist in eliminating and/or containing viable supernatural threats that could spill over into the United States. Since the threat of the supernatural kind had severely diminished, DOMA no longer employed full time agents his had un natural abilities and used more conventional forces and as such Cynthia James was the only one in her immediate family that could join, although her mother, Xien, had served when DOMA operated under an environment where it was best that the supernatural take out the supernatural. As soon as she walked in her apartment, Cynthia stripped down and put something on comfortable and went to sleep. It was 8:23 AM when she noticed her cell phone kept ringing, she looked at the Caller ID and saw her mother's name on the screen and debated for a quick second if she should answer. Xien and Cynthia had a strained relationship. Her father always said it was because the pair were too much alike, and that much Cynthia would agree on, but the main reason was the birth of her younger sister Courtney. Courtney was blessed with magical powers in abundance where Cynthia was born simply human and as much as Cynthia excelled; it was Courtney that would get her mother's undivided attention. Despite that, Cynthia was overly protective of her younger sibling. The phone hung up and than began to ring anew and as much as Cynthia didn't want to answer it, she did. Several minutes later after hearing the news, Cynthia was in a state of shock. The fact that the whole city of New York (long since abandoned after the hellgate incident) was staggering, but that the Williams were missing with it made the disappearance feel way too close to home. Marcus and Nicole were Cynthia's godparents, Nyomi, their youngest, was best friends with Courtney and although, Alexandria could not stand her, Alexander was Cynthia's first everything....boyfriend, kiss, love...and much more. The pair had broken up a year ago, but Cynthia (along with everyone else who knew the pair) knew that they belonged to each other, but the news that he was gone and probably.... She didn't want to think about it. She turned on the news and it seemed like every channel was covering the story. The only mention of the Williams family was 'a small group of operatives were sent in to help the passengers of a downed plane'. It was early afternoon when the focus became on the supernatural threat with citizens protesting that all supernatural beings be kicked out of the country and worse. Cynthia felt the rage build up in her. In her mother's day they begged for them, especially after the hellsgate when there were attacks everywhere. Yet because these supernatural operatives did their jobs too well, the threat had severely diminished from the chances of being attacked by something supernatural being 1 in 200, to the present where the numbers seemed like it was just as likely to be hit by lightning. In Europe it was worse where those who had fought by the side of humans were being hung and burned in the streets. Cynthia's rage was born out of concern, not for herself but for her family and for once (although she wouldn't admit it aloud) she was slightly relieved she didn't have the gifts they were blessed with.
