If you're on a tight budget (or no budget) and you think your landscapes could use a boost, Terrain Party could be of help. It is a web-based world map for which the view can be switched from Open Street Map (default) to USGS Shaded Relief (you could see mountain ranges). Though I would recommend to first find an area that you know have the terrain you want, zoom in a but and then switch your view options (it makes it a bit easier). Also, pay attention to the kilometers as the default is 18km, and it ranges from 8km to 60km depending on how big of an area you're looking for.
