Description
I seen so many of these when I was a kid when they flew into a Douglas Aircraft Service Center.
if the Navy has a different name, I did not see it. They are known as Dakotas in the UK
any actual capture of one years ago in service

Interestingly enough, the Navy and Marine Corps did have a different name for this plane. They called it an R4D. And the civilian version, as you are probably already aware, is called a DC-3. Nice capture!

R4D-.. Skytrain navy type designation. Great capture.

We have an old DC-3 that goes over the house. The sound is unmistakable.

Another of my favorites! The venerable 'Goony Bird.' We had the "Spooky" version of this when I was stationed in Thailand. 3 gatlings on the right side that could fill the area of a football field with hot lead in a few seconds.
Super shot, Richard.
