Description
"Tabi-tabi po," and sabi ng manlalakbay.
Translation: "Excuse me sir, please let me pass," the traveler said.
The Nuno sa Punso is known as "the Little Old Man of the Anthill" in mainstream Filipino folklore. It is generally described as an old man with a long flowing beard, the size of a three-year old child and oftentimes wearing a salakot. References would suggest that the nuno differs greatly from dwarves as they are active both day and night.
They are known to be grumpy and would inflict illness on people who dare to disturb their dwelling place.
Symptoms that a nuno inflicted a curse include high fever, body pain, and swollen genitals, or peeing black liquid (for peeing on their anthill).
Victims of the nuno are advised to seek help from an albularyo to perform a pagtatawas. Visiting the dwelling place and making an apology as such requiring animal sacrifice (often a white chicken) will soothe the anger of the nuno sa punso.
