Description
Captured 10/7/17 at the Los Angeles County Fire Department museum in Bellflower, California.
Other than a lantern, any idea what this impregnable forest of shiny stuff is all about? I never knew they had such advanced technology back then.

I just love all the details and shiny chrome - excellent photo!
I would guess it's all part of the steam powered pumping mechanism. Truly a steampunk steam pump!

I'll take Mike's and Rod's word for it, re what this is. All I know is, visually this is a feast. I've played pipe organs (in churches), and I couldn't help think that this was a strange set of organ pipes. A beautiful conglomerate (as you call it) of verticals and horizontals, and angles, and reds and brass and silvers. And contrasts of circles (guages, wheels, etc) with straight lines; of shiny surfaces with matte. And even a flare on top to set things off. And it all spills into the shot like someone just let it loose. A mesmerizing ganglia, and the green in the right-background, along with the yellow in the front-right are sweet contrasts to all this red and brass and silver. A real eye feast.
