PhthaloBlue
Thanks, Richardphotos! It would be bad if they had live rounds - they're positioned on one of the main traffic arteries in downtown Montreal!

An amazing (and loud display). I'm glad that the history and those that served are honored and remembered.
PhthaloBlue
Thank you very much, lwperkins! You're right - it was very loud - even from several blocks away and from behind large office buildings.

coyoteviper
that is awesome. So few remember, or even care anymore. To see a city remember is beyond words. fantastic capture at the right moment.
PhthaloBlue
Thanks, coyoteviper! It's an annual event here on Nov. 11. This year's event was somewhat more elaborate, to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Armistice in 1918. Troops from local regiments, in ceremonial dress, were drawn up on the opposite side of the square. Very impressive, but unfortunately I wasn't in position to photograph them.
Axeye

Photo impressionnante bien synchronisée; on peut voir la fumée, bien formée, provoquée par le tir du 2e canon, avant d'être dissipée.
PhthaloBlue
Merci beaucoup, marcPoser!

Great capture. The howitzer must have sounded really cool. I bet they scared all the pigeons!
PhthaloBlue
Thanks, junge1! They did sound really cool, and I think they scared all the pigeons away from the entire area!
