Situé en Vendée, à Fontenay le Comte Le château de TERRE-NEUVE fut construit en 1580, pour Nicolas RAPIN, Grand Prévot de la Connétablie de France et compagnon d’HENRI IV. Dans ce Joyau de la Renaissance Française, il reçut d’illustres personnages dont le Duc de SULLY, et Agrippa d’AUBIGNE. Au XIXe siècle, le Château de TERRE-NEUVE est la propriété du Marquis Octave de ROCHEBRUNE, célèbre aquafortiste. Il réalisa 492 eaux fortes à Terre-Neuve et sera ainsi considéré par certains comme « le PIRANESE de son époque ». Located in Vendée, French department, in Fontenay le Compte. The castle of TERRE-NEUVE was built in 1580, for Nicolas RAPIN, Grand Prévot of the Connétablie de France and companion of HENRI IV. In this Jewel of the French Renaissance, he received illustrious characters including the Duke of SULLY, and Agrippa d'AUBIGNE. In the 19th century, the Château de TERRE-NEUVE was owned by the Marquis Octave de ROCHEBRUNE, a famous aquafortist. He made 492 fortifications in Newfoundland and was thus considered by some to be "the PIRANESE of his time".

Très intéressant; vous avez excité ma curiosité au point de me sentir motivé à consulter le Wiki sur ces aspects de l'histoire. Une photo réussie d'une vue d'ensemble de ce château et de ses terrasses. Ce château semble être en parfait état de conservation.
