Description
I guess a Krupp 77 mm gun used in WWI. Now for those who want to know 77 mm seems to be an odd bore size. But Krupp made a 75 mm version of this gun that it sold to others countries in Europe and all over the world. They where the same when the Germans took some guns from the other they just needed to re bore them to 77 mm and they could use their stock of munition. If on the other hand they lost some of their guns, well it won't work with a 75 mm shell.

That was very clever of the Germans. Nice picture of this old gun, too.

Sometimes odd bore sizes come from old units, e.g 76.2 for British 3 inch. 77mm if converted from an older imperial system 3 inch bore would make for a 308mm foot. There where some German states that had a 307mm foot but none that value so as you say an odd size.
