BIO
Born in Cambridge in the United Kingdom, i now live in Montreal.... not too sure how that hapned, but its a pretty cool place to hang your hat!! I have worked as a professional designer for the past 15 years and my work has encompassed dance, opera, pantomime (a particularly british pass time at christmas) classic theater, improvised works and a great deal of outreach work with both dance schools and theater groups aimed at helping children and young adults access the theatrical world when they would otherwise not have the chance. My art work is inspired by my job, my interest in tarot and my love of science fiction and fantasy as well as the rather extensive amount of traveling i have done of late.

Hmmm. Quite the sexy subtext here. I like the contrast between her haughty demeanor and the relaxed poses of the two workers. I particularly like the guy on the top: there is a naturalness to his pose and the fold across his belly (which happens even on healthy buck like him) is very realistic. Lighting is fantastic – I really appreciate how you brought enough in on the top guy so we can see him, yet he's still not directly in the sunlight like the guy at the bottom. The composition is rock solid, each element is in a wonderful place to provide a three-point balance (top, left, right) in a classic triangle. And I LOVE that the horse is doing something (not distracting us with some antic, but not just standing there looking into the camera). Speaking of looking into the camera... that's the only thing I don't love. I would get more of a sense of story if they were looking more at each other than at us. There's nothing wrong with this decision, but I can't quite tell if this is a lover's triangle or are those her brothers? The intimated sexiness makes me hope not (!).
The only thing I would really suggest as a possible thing to look out for his her pose. That particular puffy sleeve fills in the gaps between shoulder, waist and wrist. In other words, if her hands were lower on her hips there would be a larger gap and her body shape would be a little more distinct. Right now she looks like a solid column or the letter "T" and that distracts from her sexy shape. But enough of my nitpicking. This is a FANTASTIC illustration; definitely the best I've seen today. I'm just in love with the little details like the bandanna and smirk on the top guy's face, and the casual way it looks like the bottom guy is actually resting his weight on his knee. I already mentioned that i loved the horse, but it bears mentioning again and adding that his color really blends with the tones in the rest of the image. And those askew crates are fantastic. Everything has a nice rustic look that contrasts beautifully with the haughty, high-and-mighty expression and pose of The Lady who is slumming it by visiting the stables. You can just sense the tension caused by the contrast of their positions in life. EXCELLENT work!
