Description

Sean was having major scheduling problems. He had asked Reese to go to dinner and a movie with him the following Friday. While working on his kitchen sink in the middle of the week, he got a call from Marnie. Having his mind fully involved in the clogged trap and not on the conversation (or who it was with), he said, “I’ve got advanced tickets for the movie Friday, so we should plan on being at D’Angelo’s by 6 p.m. to make sure we have time to eat before the show starts.” At just that moment the trap broke loose, drenching him and his phone in yucky water, killing the connection. The phone call went totally out of his mind. Come Friday, Sean is standing at the front door of the restaurant watching the Mall entrance for Reese, when he sees Marnie walk in and head straight for him. At the same time he hears a voice call his name and turns to see Reese coming from the opposite direction. He instantly realizes he is doomed. The women see each other, light bulbs go off in their heads and sparks begin to fly. They start yelling at each other and Sean tries to calm them down. He apologizes for the mix-up and offers to take both of them to dinner, but he only has two tickets so they will have to draw straws to see which of them gets to go to the movie. Marnie’s mouth drops open in disbelief and Reese get a cold, steely look. “Let me see the tickets,” she says. Sean pulls them out of his pocket and hands them to Reese. She looks at them, at him, then at Marnie. “I have a better solution.” Reese hands the second ticket to Marnie and walks away with Marnie close behind her. Sean starts to follow then stops. He has actually gotten off easy. He will miss the opening night of the new Star Wars movie and two very beautiful women will probably never speak to him again, but he is alive and uninjured. He didn’t have to pay for dinner and now he doesn’t have to worry about Reese and Marnie finding out about Jorja – or vice versa. He turned toward the Food Court to get himself a chili-dog and count his blessings. This is one where the story came first and I attempted an image to fit it.
