Description

Photo of a reproduction of a forge workshop until the beginning of the 20th century. The worker in the foreground is forging a piece of iron using the force of the drop hammer. The partially hidden character, is a companion, often a child, who must operate the forge bellows by pulling the lever that is above him, so that the worker can warm the piece even more when it is necessary . The noise and heat in these workshops were unbearable ...

Nice capture of this wonderful reproduction of these labourers. The conditions in past centuries under which many had to work were terrible, but one has to ask themselves if work conditions have really improved today for so many people around the world--e.g. mining operations of Africa, manufacturing centers China, Bangladesh are actually no better than slave labour enterprises.

Superb photo! 🌟

It is only a pity that more and more craft / craftsmanship is lost.

At least they had drop hammers, that would be a lot better than hammering those out by hand.

Man at work! Oh yes, that's the hammer we've seen before, the hammer with hydropower. Very interesting! Very nice shot, Jean-Claude.
