Description

'Let the coloured lights of hope forever challenge the darkness.'
PLEASE ZOOM IN FOR BETTER VIEWING Greetings my friends! It is Christmas once again. And with that comes my traditional 'Christmas Trees In Cyberspace' rendering. A tribute to my memories of the multicoloured sparkle bulbed1 evergreens that welcomed me into the world. In these days of mini lights and LED strings,2 such designs are far less common or popular. And placement of colours into a Christmas tree is becoming a lost art form.3 In my 2017 edition ('In The Forest Of Coloured Lights') I boasted about the presence of squirrels. Alas, some people remorsed that they really couldn't see any of the little critters. My bad, I could spot them because I had placed them there. Admittedly, unless I rendered monster squirrels, I could not expect anyone to realize that the little black spots on the ground were my favourite nut hording, fluffy tailed rodents. So for this outing I brought the camera back to the ground, there would be squirrels this year. Unfortunately, my cat Lily, told all her feline friends about the event and they decided to show up too. How Lily, a tabby, got in close with the siamese clowder is not particularly glaring.4 And speaking of mysteries, no one knows how the penguins got invited but they brought all the other avians. After all, how can any self respecting bird pass up the chance to mock a field of earthbound kitties? Well, maybe that put the penguins in an awkward place. My thanks to all of you out there who have supported me with your kind views and comments over this last year. Merry Christmas!
Notes: 1Incandescent of coarse. 2I now have two sets of Twinkly LED lights for my tree. They are smart RGB lights which allows me to customize the colours and brightness of individual lights. So now I can change the hues and effects depending upon the occasion. All controlled through a TARDIS kind of cranky smartphone app. Very 'internet of things'. 3Only one yellow/amber bulb per tree, never close to a violet bulb. 4More pun than a physicist with a doughnut. - Albert Einstein55No, Einstein really didn't say that but #IveBeenDrinking

A fine gathering if there ever was! The northern lights seemed to glow around the same time you posted your image, I wonder if the two phenomena are connected... 😎

Things are getting a little crowded in the colorful forest it seems! A most wonderful and delightful image!

I vividly remember those 'bubbly' Christmas lights from my childhood. They had a plastic base, round on the bottom, and a clip that attached to the tree. the top had a glass tube with liquid in it that would 'bubble' when it was heated up by the light bulb. I haven't seen those for years...
