Description

Uh-huh......Sure..... A bit more experimenting with DAZ.. The question was asked on my last upload if I would be abandoning Poser now that I have DAZ set up on the new machine... Nope. Not in this lifetime. And here's why.... Take a look at the image I've put in the first comment block.... That's right. 13 hours to get to 37% - even with an RTX-2080ti GPU. Using a Gen3 character I created in FaceGen way back when I was playing with DAZ on the laptop. There are 4 lights (3 spots and 1 distant, and the emissives in the chandelier). The amazing thing is that this is the resulting image even at 37%! Check it out at full-size.. Other than dropping a photo outside the windows, and adding my watermark, the render is untouched, just as it came out of DS. I tend to render my images huge - this one is UHD - 3840 X 2160 pixels. The original frames for my T.N.A. story are rendered at 3360 X 2100 pixels in Poser Pro 2014. With all the stuff I cram into those scenes - at 5 frames per page - It would take the rest of my life to finish Chapter 6 if I tried to do it in DAZ. So, no - I won't be leaving Poser behind any time soon... It's still my main go-to, especially for T.N.A. DAZ is an addition; just another tool in the box, just like Photoshop (which also has 3D capabilities), and Vue. 😉 As always, thanks for taking a look, and for all your wonderful comments and support! My Goodness, does it take that long time to render with Daz Studio. Reminds me of the good old days, when we tried to use a program called...Uh....forgot the name, but it made only Landscapes. It also took ages to render. I remember I lost interest because of the long render time. Was it Terragen? I think so.

Good decision. Differing software have differing strengths so one will always have the advantage over the others in some way.

Even at 37% it looks great. I have to admit that I haven't even opened Poser since I started using Daz Studio. I don't need large images so at 1300 px as the largest dimension, renders don't take too long. I'm sure if you keep playing with it you will find a way to make it work for you. You do such marvelous work in Poser, it really doesn't matter which one you use as long as you keep posting the fabulous images you create.

Awww.... You have me blushing, Teri! 😊

From what I understand, my new computer is a step ahead of DAZ... The RTX2080 gpu isn't supported by DS 4.10 - but is by the 4.11 BETA. I'll probably DL the BETA and see what happens... Hopefully the release of 4.11 will come sooner rather than later!

I don't understand the detail of your description, unfortunately---I can appreciate your comments on render times, but I don't know the 'players' so to speak. I just have so little experience with 3D. But I can tell you that the young woman is beautifully done, her stance is just what the title describes, great job on her skirt and blouse (or dress, if it's one piece), and great light on every part of her. She's very seductive and sexy, really well done; and she really stands out against the surrounding. The detail in the curtains is striking, esp full size; and you leave a lot of space in the piece, which makes this very spacious for an interior image. The light through the windows is beautiful and filled with pinkish to yellow-green hues (along with the reflections, which add a beautiful layer to the left-most window). And it's amazing how she stands out both in that great red---and yet fits in: She fits right into this image. I don't know anything about render times---except that they scare the hell out of me---but you get clarity, terrific space and light that I really love, all to embrace your sterling model work. Fine work, Rod, which is no surprise...

Great render! Dido what bucyjoe said on improving your render times. It is just a matter of learning a few of the tricks. YouTube has some good videos on rendering and Iray lighting for Daz Studio. Took me a while to get he hang of it but once I did my render time when down and my render quality went up. :)

Rod, you need to get Octane. You renders will massively improve in speed compared to what Daz is capable of. But I think they are going to enable the RTX real time ray tracing cores in Daz. If that happens, your render time should come down drastically. Another thing to note about rendering indoor scenes is if your light is behind a specular material (e.g. a glass lamp / glass etc), it will take forever to render and the noise to clear. Specular materials increase render times. There are things you can do go render such scenes faster such as put 2 lights. I to simulate appearance with limited distribution (to just make it glow) and the other outside the specular object that does the real lighting.
