Description

Lore hadn't realized how far he'd wandered from the party until he realized the only thing he could hear was the crashing lull of the waves. The cove he'd meandered into was secluded; a very welcoming surprise to the vibrant tourist traps and revelry that dotted the beaches. Though the archeological site was on a secluded island, the college students that accompanied his father's crew had found a way to somehow party till late in the evening and still somehow manage to be up at the crack of dawn to resume digging. Though he hadn't looked to find a quiet spot, his subconscious had found one. He found a rock relatively free of sand and laid down on it, enjoying the last blazing rays of sunlight on his face before nightfall as he listened to the ocean's heartbeat against the shore. He had no idea how long he had been there when he suddenly felt eyes upon him. Sitting up on his elbows, he couldn't believe his eyes... Like a god of some forgotten myth, a man rose out of the water. Tall, muscled like a Greek adonis, long hair blazing in the evening sun, piercing eyes that nearly took Lore's breath away. It was like a scene right off the cover of one of his sister's trashy romance novels he used to secretly steal away and read at night. The man stopped just short of stepping fully on shore, the waves washing over his feet. He wore the tightest pants Lore had ever seen, made out of some shimmery, scaly material, that left little to the imagination if what he could see was true. Caught oogling, he could feel his cheeks flush as he raised his eyes to meet the stranger's. "Hello!" he said, unable to think of anything else to say. The man stood there for a moment, his eyes assessing every inch of Lore, who was suddenly aware of his disheveled appearance after a hot day's dig at the archeological site with his father. His shirt was undoubtedly covered in dirt and he was sure his hair was a mess in the ocean wind. "You are trespassing! What are you doing here?" "Oh! I am so sorry! I thought the embassy had cleared everything with the locals. My name is Lore Kallines. My father, Gregory, is here on an archeological dig. I was just tired after a long day and thought I'd find a quiet place to enjoy the ocean." The man's face was darkening with anger, and Lore was all too aware just how far away help would be if he needed it. The man outweighed him by at least 80 pounds, and was easily a foot taller than Lore's own meager height of 5'7. Lore began assessing every way out of the small cove, but the man was too near, and if he tried to climb the rock walls the stranger would surely catch him. The man's glower became even more intense, and he stepped closer until water from his hair dripped onto Lore's legs. "Your father is desecrating a sacred site. We have watched while you main landers have reveled in the defiling of our island. We demand tribute and you will pay it!"
