It means a lot to me!
Ragnor is presented to the Emperor Louis. Today, the son of Charlemagne is known as "Louis the Pious".
Ragnor's cousin Ansgar translated for the Emperor. As agreed, Ragnor still denied being the wanted Ragnor Skryrmirson. Ansgar suggested to the Emperor that his father (Hackbart) pay a ransom for the Northmann.
Ludwig said he would come back to this later. But he wanted to listen to a man first.
Unfortunately, it turned out that the witness was none other than Ragnor's brother-in-law Bergelmir, who had fled to the Danish king.
And since he had once betrayed Ragnor's family, he did it out of habit again. He confirmed that this prisoner was Ragnor Skryrmirson. Well, dumb run. Now the plan had failed.
And once again, although everything seemed hopeless, coincidence came again. There were quite a few people in the throne room. Not only the Empress Judith and the co-emperor Lothar, but many others. Otfried von Colmar and an unknown knight are also present.
And just this unknown knight looked at the Emperor Ludwig for quite some time hateful. And just as the Emperor was concentrating on Ragnor, the knight rushed to commit an assassination whose goal was, of course, the Emperor. Ragnor pushed the Emperor aside and fended off the sword with his chain.
Shortly thereafter Ragnor is pushed aside by the guards and massaged. The assassin was killed on the spot.
Of course, the emperor was grateful, but not so thankful that he would release Ragnor. Although he had saved his life, yet enough lives of others on the conscience. He pronounced his verdict. The very next morning Ragnor is to be led to the scaffold …

What a great chapter with a new line for the story, but unfortunately, Ragnor is not yet out of peril! And this scene at the emperor's court is wonderfully staged with amazind characters and decor! Fantastic work, Elke!
