Description

You should always check you travel plans, especially if your travel agent doesn’t know the area around your destination. Landing at an airport that is 100 miles from your hotel means you have to rent a car to get there. If the car rental agency is not well stocked, you get a vehicle on its last legs and in your agitation you misspell the name of your intended destination in the GPS. This heads you in the wrong direction and after an hour, the rental car dies. Since this is the literal Middle-of-Nowhere, your cell phone can’t find a tower so you abandon the car, retrieve your luggage and start walking. When your feet are ready to fall off, you stop at an abandoned gas station and contemplate all the ways you are going to get revenge on the travel agent. Eventually a farmer in an old pick-up truck rolls by and rescues you. He gets you to the bus station where you can get back to the right city and collapse in your hotel room. Hopefully the rest of the trip will go as planned. I got the Travel luggage in Daz’s Fast Grab section and wanted to play with it. This is what happened. Never mind having to wait for six hours at the first airport because the TSA people all called in sick...

Excellent work on this, Teri!

Great image and story, I remember a cross country bus trip where we had a lay over at a small gas station in the middle of Nebraska or Iowa somewhere, that reminded me of this. It was a tiny stop with a feeling that it had not been updated since the 1960s. Thanks for sharing, what brought back an amusing memory.

this recent batch of stories have been real grabbers! I love your scenario (been there too many times) and I really love your visual. That's not just an abandoned gas station, that's something out of a horror film where you don't wanna be anywhere near it when the sun goes down! Great choice of background. Also, I love how she's seated, such a great posture. (Another posture, btw, that's simply out of the question for me, despite my years of yoga and such: I sit like that for 5 minutes? We're talkin' traction for the next 6 months...) Great posture, she's stretching her legs from that terrible walk; and I love her luggage (that old map), and that purse---it looks almost like an animal. The particulars are all eye-popping; and perfect for your scenario.
