Description

World War Four was over, but Alexander hoped for survivors and began to search for some human beings he could guard from harm. He was made as a loyal bodyguard and carer, and to be without human company was painful. He salvaged a solar power system and plenty of spares so he could recharge regularly. He also got a small flyer going and began visiting areas of the country that were not radioactive, having been successfully defended by the anti-missile systems. Still all the humans he found were dead. He hunted up a medical library to read up on the required technique and then conducted some autopsies. The grim conclusion was inescapable; they had mostly died of starvation, some even having the remnants of other humans in their digestive systems. The anti-missile systems could defend a town, a base or a city but they could not defend the huge tracts of land needed for farming. Much of the world's farmland was now radioactive, most of the rest poisoned by either chemical or biological warfare agents. Without humans around the entire purpose for Alexander's existence would be gone so it was impossible for him to give up his search until he found them or until he really was certain that there were no people alive anywhere on Earth. It wasn't even a matter of choice, he was not designed to give up easily and he would not tire. It was to be a long and lonely search... This is Michael 2 (remember him?) with my custom textures. The scene was originally built in Bryce 3.1 and rendered on a 90MHz Mac in 2001, but I pulled it into Bryce 7 to improve the lighting. All of the materials except for those on Alexander are Bryce procedurals, which saved UV mapping and painting textures for the models.

Michael 2 looks great still--and I wish him luck in his search!

I always thought the DAZ generation 2 figures looked better than the generation 3 so I never bought a single product for the generation 3 figures and never used any but the kids in a render. I just kept using Victoria 2 and Michael 2 until the generation 4 replacements arrived.

With any luck this won't come to pass.. But this could be the start of a great post-apo sci-fi story. Most excellent, my friend!

Michael 2..... Wow! You really went back in time - still looks good, though!

That's M2? Nice work! I never got into Daz/Poser until just before V4 came out.

I read quite a few DoD reports from the 50's that were released into public record about the projected aftermath of a third world war involving a full scale nuclear exchange. The results of the study were disturbing. It's projected that up to 75% of the affected populations will die by starvation, disease and violence resulting from the collapse of infrastructure, law and order. I figure WWIII will be fought over political/economic issues, WW IV will be fought over what's left.

I remember seeing the original; I'd forgotten it was back in the days of Bryce 3. The lighting, not surprisingly, looks rather better. If he's doing a room by room search of what appears to be a devastated city, that's going to be a long job. I like the twisted beams and solidified slag; I'd like it even more if it were one of a set. If you can find a suitable toy in your runtime, one carefully placed might add some poignancy. I think I would have angled the camera so that the rear wall is not flat-on.

Nice work, as ever.
