Description

I've started work on a book cover based on the Role Playing Game GALAXY PRIME. This will be for an anthology of fiction set in its universe. Right now I'm just sending some rough ideas to the editor/publisher so he can figure out what direction I'd like to go in. And as such, I just want to send him rough sketches, rather than something more polished (in my experience, non-graphics professionals see 3D and, since it is so sharp and clean to begin with, they get hung up on small details rather than seeing the larger composition and react to it at an idea level), I'm starting with rough sketches. I was actually very surprised at how nice this standard Poser Sketch render came out. In fact, almost shocked. It really looks nice. I suspect the editor will have a strong reaction to it. Figure is standard M4 with a few props that will be updated if this makes it past the first idea round (yeah, that air tank has GOT to go!).

I've been following Feng Zhu's FZD channel on YT thinking to apply some of the techniques to 3D work but never had the discipline to follow it through. I can see how that sketch output would be a good starting point. Interesting post, thanks for sharing.

Thanks for the tip about that channel – I'm not familiar with it. I'm not a huge fan of the sketch render for final work, but I am finding that using it for the concept phase makes me look more at composition and GENERAL lighting, rather than getting lost in details that don't matter at this phase of the project.

Thanks for commenting!

That does not look like a good situation. Great job
