Constructive critique, especially regarding the overall realism (i.e. how close I am to something that could pass as a photo of a living person), is welcome!

Overall, I think the lighting doesn't really give a realistic/photo-real look. For a 3D image, it is remarkable.
Try using a different lighting setup and possibly taking some shine from the hair and skin down a few notches.

I agree with heyitsjamesh03. Overall this is a great portrait,but yeah the lighting and the texture don't pull off that realistic look.

Not realistic. You need to work a lot more regarding the lighting and skin materials. Plus this eyebrows also does not look real. Try to use a HDRI lighting and then work on the skin texture and materials.
