I wanted to comment on more of your surreal and visionary images, but I just don't have enough time. (I'm at over an hour and 10 minutes in your gallery, and unfortunately I must move on. There are still a couple of artists I haven't commented on yet.) I loved your Crow Mother---one of your most recent pieces---and there are others like it that I'll have to comment on, next time. But this image...
The entire image is swept by winds...like you've taken a brush and painted back and forth over the image. You have lots of heads---some with bodies, some not---and they are either creating wind, or they're effected 'by' wind. This looks like the scene we might see, if we could go to the center of the wind, and see who's causing it. This is a stormy group of people....And you captured a lot of mystery here, and some real confrontation. Plus, you've layered images over each other, creating a dream-like scene. I love the oranges and yellows on the bottom; and the near-white sky on top. (Actually, you have blues in that sky too.) A very suggestive image---even your signature is wind-blown. And it looks like these heads (these ghosts) have conflicts that go back ages. Beautifully done, Ute. It's always a pleasure to sit and comment here. I see everything you post, but commenting is a treat because I get to delve into your work deeply. I love your imagination. Beautiful work as always.
