After several EMP explosions by North Korea, China and Russia have been exploded in the atmosphere above the United States, that countries entire electrical infrastructure has been completely incapacitated. At first, everyone was irritated that their electronic devices, cars and lights quit working. That inconvenience turned to frustration, then fear, then anger. The more aggressive and primitive souls turned to violence and complete chaos. Starvation, looting, killing and total chaos ensued everywhere. Of course, most of the preppers had managed to get to their safe havens when they realized what was going on. But the smug smiles were quickly wiped off their faces when their so called safe havens became targets for huge mobs of very hungry desparate people. The only preppers that had a chance at survival were the ones that had formed large groups sharing their resources and arms, knowing full well the dangers posed by rampaging mobs. There was horrendous loss of life on both sides. The smaller prepper installations were wiped out by the shere huge numbers of desparate people. The united efforts of the larger groups of preppers wiped out huge numbers of desparate invaders. If the EMP bombs weren't enough, Mother Nature took this time to deal a very deadly blow to the Western half of the nation. The Yellowstone volcano blew up with a vengeance killing millions in the first moments of its eruption. Then the long dormant volcano east of San Diego was awakened by its rumblind neighbor to the north and it exploded with an equal fury. Several more millions of humans were killed in that eruption. In the end, all these catastrophes brought the United States to its knees. People died from the mob riots, starvation and illness by the millions. The United States was no longer the most prosperous nation on earth but was returned caveman level. Unknown to most people, there was a group of aliens that had been watching humanity for thousands of years. They could predict with a certain degree of accuracy that this situation was near at hand. Over the years of studying the human species, they learned very much about the human psyche. With their sophisticated instruments, they were able to determine good humans from bad ones. After the violence and inhumanity had gone on for what seemed an eternity, a subliminal message was sent out to all the survivors of this chaos. It broadcast a homing signal that prompted all capable humans to come to a collection point. The aliens would attempt to save 1,000,000 of the best humans from this country and transport them to a more hospitable planet. As the humans began gathering at the collection point, several space saucers appeared in the skies above the venerable old government building that thus far hadn't been vandalized. For some reason, it had managed to escape the troubling times. Maybe it was its remote location? The space saucers hovered over the fields above the rapidly growing crowds below. "Our technology is able to determine the good human from the bad one. When we turn on the discernment beam, the bad people show up as red and the good people show up as blue. Then it is an easy process for our transporter beams to lock on the blue ones and beam them up into our ships." says the captain of this rescue mission. "How long do you think it will take before we max out on the number saved?" asks his chief lieutenant. "Judging from the rapid growth of the crowd, it won't take long. Once we reach our goal of 1,000,000 we depart with our cargoes and return to the Mother ship, parked in stealth mode behind their moon. Then, all the people will be placed in stasis for their journey to a new and hopefully better planet. If all goes well, their goodness will prevail and they will be able to create a more healthy place for their species where they can correct the errors committed on this planet and later, become valuable members of our inter-galactic commonwealth. But it will take them many generations before that happens." "Their planet is all ready for them. We have built small cities and industries for them to take over once we deliver them there. With our help, I think they will adapt nicely to their new environment and start on the road to full and productive recovery. At least that is the council's and my hope!" "So why don't we take any people from the other countries of this planet?" "First, all the other countries haven't suffered the severe blow this county has received.
