Description

Pour symboliser la centralité de la place de la Victoire, une colonne réalisée par le sculpteur Ivan Theimer, a été inaugurée le 17 juin 2005. Cette oeuvre en marbre rouge du Languedoc et en bronze, est le 1er monument bordelais conçu comme un hommage à la vigne et au vin, qui fait la réputation de la ville dans le monde entier.La colonne de la place de la Victoire est formée de six blocs de marbre sculptés et assemblés deux par deux dans l'atelier d'Ivan Theimer à Pietrasanta (Italie). Ces blocs forment une colonne de 16 mètres de haut de plus de 50 tonnes, visible notamment du haut de la rue Sainte-Catherine, au travers du vide de la Porte d'Aquitaine. To symbolize the centrality of Victory Square, a column designed by sculptor Ivan Theimer was inaugurated on June 17, 2005. This work in red Languedoc marble and bronze, is the first Bordeaux monument designed as a tribute to the vine and wine, which has made the city famous throughout the world. The column of Victory Square is made up of six carved marble blocks assembled in pairs in Ivan Theimer's workshop in Pietrasanta (Italy). These blocks form a 16-metre high column of more than 50 tonnes, visible from the top of Sainte-Catherine Street, through the void of the Porte d'Aquitaine.

Je n'avais pas le souvenir de cette colonne lors de ma visite de Bordeaux, Mais je vous parle d'un temps que les moins de 30 ans ne peuvent pas connaitre !
