Description

Countless thanks for the concerns and well wishes on my recent visit again to the ER, was my second bowel blockage in 4 months. I'm not totally out of the woods yet on it. A third time no matter the situation I will have the surgery. I was a unusual case to the doctors and head nurses on my visit. After the cat scan it showed blockage like the first visit, but this time was clearly more severe then last. Last time they did not shove a tube through my nose into my stomach to pump it clean. And having that was highly discomforting. They were astonished by how fast and how many 2 liter containers I filled (about 7-8). After the 3 one the battery died on pump so they did the gravity flow, and I filled them faster then the pump did, again they don't recall seeing a case like mine as a patient. I was given a solution to make me poop, many hours went by and nothing. They injected fluids in me and took xrays, like 20 + or so total during my stay. Their huge concern was my elevated white blood cell count and how quickly I filled those containers and nothing showing up on the xrays when they put that solution in me. I was told surgery was needed, and they were astonished by that nothing was showing up on the xray tests, most patients at least have that solution showing up on them. Another reason for the sure going under the knife. After about 14 hrs getting that stuff to make me go i started to bowel move, 15 times in 3 hrs or so. I felt nearly 100% after that. And I told them I wanted to cancel the op. Doctor's and head nurse said I need to have it cause they could not approve my release and medicaid would not pay my hospital bill, maybe around 20.000 or so. At that point I was 4-6 hrs away from the op. After more xrays countless blood tests it showed I was clear. They have never ever seen a patient case like mine and were scratching their heads on it. I should have not recoverd like that they mentioned. So I was a rare and unique patient to them. I might have rewrote the book on that. Thank you all. I was just going to write to you today to get some news. I'm glad you didn't need the surgery. I see I'm not the only one who surprises doctors. It is very uncomfortable when you see doctors telling you that they have never seen a case like ours. I mean, everything's fine that ends well, take good care of yourself, Steve, kindly Monique.

Particularly love the cat in this image.

I was here just to post some feedback, then read your story of hospital visit. Good grief I am glad you cleared up the way you did. I have struggled with a crazy gut for the past 10 years. It can get medieval. :-( It can take a long time to find a combination of tricks that works for you. Good luck. Be well.

sorry I'm late on this, Steve, I saw it as soon as it went up but couldn't comment at the time...but I read your description right away and was amazed. You must have felt like a hurricane victim, with all the storms they put you through. And the waits, and the feeling---almost to the end---that you were getting surgery no matter what...only to come up clean at the end, and sent home....I'm very glad it turned out that way, though I'm not glad you had to go through so much to get there. And I assume this week you'll start work again (if I recall, it's Wednesday, right? I have to reread your last letter). I can see your fans were struck by what you went through this weekend. I hope this is the last of it! (And btw, would the doctors ok your eating extra fiber? I don't know about your diet, but maybe that would keep your bowels clearer. Ie, psyllium husks, or bran...Bran is very cheap...maybe they'd have something to say about that, when you talk to them next...)

A beautiful image...Mother Earth is like a goddess, and you chose a beautiful gown, and you lit it with fine dappled light like she's being lit by many small sources. And you have great highlights on her legs! And a beautiful hue to her dress. The earth is lit up like a lantern, and that big moon is beautiful behind her. The rest of the image is in shadow, which lets her stand out. It's a quiet moment of the earth goddess, and very touching. (Maybe the cat in this image is Tig er's guardian angel...) Beautiful upload and powerful text. I hope the spring brings you a much better time than what you've dealt with up to now. And btw, you got some really fine wishes in my gallery, so if you haven't seen any of the comments, it's worth a look. (Some people were very kind and sympathetic.) All the best to you, Steve; and I wish you tons of health!

Definitely sounds like you have them baffled, Steve. The important part is that you're doing OK now. But yeah, if it happens again, you should get it taken care of for good. Just glad you're OK, buddy!

Your talent for creating beautiful art remains unfazed, judging by this gorgeous image!

Great job on the spider web in the corner. And you want to watch it: next, they will name what ever it is after you. I found it quite disturbing when I had my injured knee examined and the doctor merryly called his colleague with the words "I've nerver seen this before - you got to have a look at it! (Which he did tailed by an impressive number of students...). But in the end, it worked out and I recovered: hope this will be true for you, too.

You certainly are rare and unique. Take care of yourself and if they are good doctors I'd trust them with a little exploratory surgery if you're covered. I would think a colonoscopy could be done without having to open you up. Sort your options. Good luck and best wishes.
