Description

Le château de Suscinio, résidence des ducs de Bretagne, se dresse au bord de la mer dans la commune de Sarzeau (Morbihan), au cœur de ce qui était autrefois un vaste espace boisé. Construit à la fin du Moyen Âge, il est situé dans la presqu'île de Rhuys, aujourd'hui formé de marais salants et de prairies. Le château s’inscrit dans la lignée des grandes résidences ducales émergeant alors en Bretagne sous l’impulsion de ducs puissants. Longtemps laissé à l’état de ruine, le château est finalement classé en 1840 après la visite de Prosper Mérimée, cinq ans plus tôt, qui le met sur la première liste des Monuments historiques. À l’époque, le château est visité pour le caractère romantique de ses ruines The castle of Suscinio, residence of the Dukes of Brittany, stands by the sea in the commune of Sarzeau (Morbihan), in the heart of what was once a vast wooded area. Built at the end of the Middle Ages, it is located in the Rhuys peninsula, which today consists of salt marshes and meadows. The castle is in line with the great ducal residences then emerging in Brittany under the impulse of powerful dukes. Long left in a state of ruin, the castle was finally classified in 1840 after Prosper Mérimée's visit five years earlier, which placed it on the first list of historic monuments. At the time, the castle was visited for the romantic character of its ruins

Ce château fort, qui normalement aurait une apparence austère, a une allure étonnement romantique! Je crois avoir vu Rapunzel à la fenêtre supérieure de la tour. Jolie photo!
