The two figures are the results of two renders, using pretty much the same pose, but there's a fair bit of difference between them. On the left is the earlier one. That's Jim Burton's Glamorous Vickie. She has smoothing to prevent poke through. The Last Vegas hair has a much expanded bump map and transparency map. Then I played with the lighting environment dome. In order to get a nice soft light, I went to a sunlight only done, at 8pm, 21 June 2019, Latitude 80 degrees North, 0 Degrees Longitude. In northern areas the light is soft, yellow and very mellow in summer. Then I tweaked the original texture settings to make her look as good as possible. And was very pleased. But, why couldn't I get the full Iray experience with her skin? The Right image came later, once I found how to add an Iray Uber Shader to all the surfaces. I didn't bother to tweak the lighting dome (been there, done that!), Just tried to make her skin as real as possible. Only used her textures and bump maps. The Iray default settings after adding the Uber Shader made no difference to the skin until I started tweaking sub surface scattering, and translucency. All-in-all, I think GV is ever more realistic in the right image than the left. Stunning piece of software. Hope you like the results of my learning. Richard.
