between the church and monastery. it was very dark in the hall, and the light at the end prevented adjusting the dark area

Looks really good to me, Richard. Plenty of shadow detail, and the highlights are not blown out.

This is a truly beautiful capture, Richard...the lighting is excellent. Reminds me of a place I stayed at while in Portugal, way back when.

for a shot where you couldn't adjust it as you liked, you caught some powerful contrast between pouring bright light (in back) and warm shadows (in front). The shadows are tinged with an orange hue, and feel very warm. The ceilings feel low, even though they're not---that's the proportions of this kind of architecture, it gives that illusion: Ie, the walls and ceilings tend to "surround and encase" you, as a monastery should. (Ie, monasteries are protective, private spaces...) And the light in back is beautiful, with that butter-yellow swath from the ceiling lamp. Very engaging with a sense of real depth.
