Great shot, but be careful taking pictures like this! You don't want to get hit from behind.

Not to worry, unless you're stone deaf and don't feel vibrations. The engineer honks a loud horn in plenty of time before coming up to these intersections, which also lower their gates automatically across the road. Plus, the trains that use these particular tracks carry freight and are very slow moving.

Great light in this one too. I love how the track vanishes in the distance.

For my last comment tonight, I skipped over the shoe shot before this---not because I don't love your shoe shots (I do!), but because this subject is less common these days (in your gallery), so I just had to comment on it. Love the lines, Love the wonderful gold-tinged light on the left. Love the feeling of infinity in the back, and the collision of angles here, plus the RR lights. And the tracks themselves, w/ the metal taking on a peach-gold hue in this beautiful light. A wonderful picture. And we can see how flat these tracks really are in these intersections. (We have a few like this, in Chicago, but it appears LA has a lot more.) Great shot. And you got it when there are few enough cars nearby that it's almost abandoned. (There are cars---but they're in the background.) Terrific shot, Harry. You do tracks a big service w/ your camera. One can look at this a long time, and get a feeling of real peace.
