Some of the best work I've seen around.. About how much time did you put into the project?

A lot of work, amokery... I've working the last three weeks (not full time) in the project. The total amount of faces in the scene is over 600.000... and it needs raytraced shadows. I've found more problems than I did hope with my processor (P III 500) to handle this scene...

Thanks everyone for the comments. I used the photos of the original subject I found at Internet to document materials and vegetation for this project. You can view a high resolution photo by using this link: http://gues.hypermart.net/wallpapers/azay_le_rideau_1024.jpg

I'v never thought that this degree of perfection would be possible. I hope that 3DS will be ported to MacOS some day.

Original castle (from a photo) seems more "dirty" :). However you have done very good job. Oh, window frames on third floor are in different colour :)))

This is a really beautiful piece of work. Amazing sense of scale and atmosphere. The only thing ( and this is picky) is the tree on the left side (not the leaves immediately in front of the viewer framing the picture but the tree behind them closer to the stone walk way). The green in the leaves of that tree is too saturated and not antialiased enough. Awsome work!
