Description
Hello, everyone! It's my 20th anniversary as a Renderosity member!
I'm surprised I've been around that long. Newer members may be surprised that Renderosity has been around for that long! I congratulate the site on becoming "mature" right beside me. The details are lost in the mists of time, and don't hold me to the factual accuracy of this, but I do recall something with a very descriptive but uninspired name called the Poser Forum. There was some discussion about choosing a better name. Renderosity was proposed, sounding like Render Virtuosity. Or, Render City, perhaps. Either way, you know what name they went with!
Once the Renderosity name was official, I joined not long afterward, on May 12, 1999. I've mentioned before that was around the time that Poser 4 and the "Millennium Woman" Victoria 1 were introduced. (Is Victoria a Millennial? I always saw her as more Generation X.) The point is that Poser renderings were becoming an art form in their own right, however primitive at the beginning, and not merely references for traditional artists. Perhaps most importantly, users were able to create, share, and sell their own 3D assets, creating a new cottage industry.
Think about it: Renderosity was "social media" before that was a common term! Renderosity emerged as a platform to share images and have friends leave comments on them. Sound familiar?
I want to take this opportunity to address one burning question: why did I select the "Squeaker" cartoon rat character (included in newer versions of Poser) as my avatar? No, folks, I am actually a human being, not a rat. I have never really pursued making a 3D character that looked like me. I figured that might lead me to putting "myself" into all sorts of renderings, and eventually cause problems in telling what was and what was not real, so I didn't do it. Besides, I played a video game once where the character looked like me but didn't act like me, and I thought that was creepy enough. When I needed to speak directly to the viewing audience, I chose the "Squeaker" to represent me, possibly in a moment of low self-esteem! But still, he is cute, and I like him.
So... you can see that I don't post nearly as often as I used to. The truth is that these days I have become more interested in other things. But still, I intend to stay active and check in now and then.
I may not hold the record for rendering buxom redheads. I may not even hold the record for rendering excessively pear-shaped brunettes and blondes. However, I am pretty sure I hold the record for posting NVIATWAS images on New Year's Day. If you don't know what NVIATWAS stands for, well, maybe you would need to have been around for twenty years!
So, I raise a glass in a toast to the past, and to the future! In the present, I invite you to look over some "vintage" images in my gallery. Here's to many more years of pushing the "Make Art" button! Cheers!

Congrats on 20 years. You would have experience the huge changes in the 3D software that has allowed hobbyists like us to create pretty good art / images.

Well congratulations!
I had no idea that you had been around for so long. Indeed, it is amazing to reflect that this site has been around so long.
