Old Quayside was once a busy little fishing port with a small inn, a boat shed and a row of diminutive cottages. Too small to support the fishing trade it declined to become a tourist and sport fishing destination. Those businesses declined too. Then a retired sea captain built his retirement home on the quay, a curious structure with a crow’s nest as a second story port from which he would watch the horizon as if searching for a ship that would never comes in. But the inn’s pob continued to draw a small trade from a nearby town and an occasional adventurous tourist would book the upper room at the inn for the night. This is the locale where a contemporary social problem gives rise to a crime that may not be as it first appears. It all takes place soon after a wedding in the Cotswalds… In this image we see the captain, we never know his name, standing on his crows nest balcony.
