Le lama (Lama glama) est un camélidé domestique d'Amérique du Sud. Sa longévité est comprise entre 10 et 20 ans. Le terme « lama » est souvent utilisé de manière plus large pour s'appliquer aux quatre espèces animales proches qui constituent la branche sud-américaine des camélidés : le lama blanc lui-même, l'alpaga, le guanaco et la vigogne (voir le genre lama). Stricto sensu, malgré quelques croisements, le lama, animal domestique, a pour plus proche cousin le guanaco, animal sauvage, alors que l'alpaga, animal domestique, a pour plus proche cousin la vigogne, animal sauvage. The lama (Lama glama) is a domestic camelid from South America. Its longevity is between 10 and 20 years. The term "lama" is often used more broadly to refer to the four related animal species that make up the South American branch of camelids: the white llama itself, alpaca, guanaco and vicuna (see genus lama). Strictly speaking, despite some crossbreeding, the llama, a domestic animal, has the guanaco, a wild animal, as its closest cousin, while the alpaca, a domestic animal, has the vicuna, a wild animal, as its closest cousin.
