ha! lemme tell ya something - the reason why i popped this open honestly WAS because the thumbnail looked painterly to me, and for me, more oft than no, will draw like moth to flame... it might not be up to your desired imaginings of 'painterly', but to my eyes, you're right up next to it, esp. from her waist to ground... sincerely will be interested to see where you go next in your journey/quest for your intent... i'm excited FOR you... [l'il smile]

Lovely. I would say almost there in terms of the book cover. In post work with On1 or some other filters you should be able to get the effect you are looking for.

I have heard so many good things about on1, I have been using Topaz and Nik tools so far. I should give it a try though..
