Epic work Barb. We were young back in those days. Great night atmosphere.

You've created such a lovely commemorative scene..That was such an exciting moment...I remember everything about it...my Pop worked on the computer end of the mission--he showed me one of the computers--it was huge :) Not too sure we should be going to the moon/mars until we can take care of Mother Earth --should spending treasure and effort here first...

Time funs when you're having Flies, nicely done.

Now the Rant: A great moment in Human history and personal history too. I had just enlisted in the Army at 18 a year later I would be in Vietnam now 50 years later and pushing 70 and we haven't advanced Human space exploration an inch further than the Moon. A lot of talk but no action, if you took all the treasure wasted on senseless Wars of ideology and put some towards Exploration we would probably be approaching Alpha Centauri or some such...just sayin

An excellent tribute! I was born a scant three years after the first landing (and then they had stopped in '72 when I was born).

And I agree totally with Lenord. We should have been much further along with human space travel by now. Sadly, this Anniversary had me asking "Was this all there was?"

An old black and white tv with rabbit ear style antenna, a snowy picture, but I was still glued... 🌙😎

What a wonderful tribute to one of our species' greatest accomplishments!

I was in the US Air Force at the time - stationed at Udorn Air Force Base in Thailand, and I remember a bunch of us sitting in the TV room in the barracks watching that landing. You could have heard a pin drop... Then those famous first words from the moon... "Houston, the Eagle has landed!" You would have thought we had just won WW-3 from the roar that went up in that room. Guys were cheering, guys were jumping up and down, guys (including me) had tears running down their cheeks.. One of those moments you never forget..

And I have to second - enthusiastically - what Lenord said.

You got some great comments here, Lenord and Rod especially, and I love how you commemorated this event. I'd have never thought of something like this...the boat seems very private (you have it in shadow which makes it feel even moreso) so the person looking at the moon is enjoying the moment very privately...and the moon is a formidable beacon on his way...And I love the cat, and the lights across the boat, like a carnival, w/ a star studded sky. A wonderful private appreciation of that moment, very personal, I love it...I got a mild slipped disk, and was unable to sit for a few weeks (but in moments), so I was gone longer than I wanted. I have to go slow still, but it's great to be back here. Your recent work has been so fine, so expressive and creative, it's been hard not to comment when each piece went up. I'll try to get to them all tonight, but if not, I'll get to the rest this weekend...
