While looking through my library of files, I discovered that I had acquired a Darth Vader helmet, and I couldn't resist a little fan fic: Anakin felt blessed. Despite all the wrong, all the terrible things, all the evil he had done, his children had forgiven him. After facing and defeating his lifelong tormentor, Palpatine, Anakin thought he was a dead man. But his son Luke was stronger in the Force than Anakin had ever been. Through his power, Luke kept him alive long enough to reach civilization and modern critical care facilities. The generosity of his daughter Leia had acquired for him a new, advanced cybernetic suit that was years ahead of the old one Palpatine kept him locked inside, a walking prison designed to keep him in pain to better attune him with the Dark Side. Not only had the new suit and improved cybernetic limbs alleviated his physical suffering, but his children's unconditional love had rejuvenated his spirit. Where once he had been the icon of evil, he now was once again a hero of the New Republic, striking terror into the hearts of former Imperial troops across the galaxy. His family was even expanding. Anakin couldn't say he was entirely pleased with his daughter's choice of a husband. General of the Rebellion or no, that Han Solo was a bit of a slacker. But he made Leia happy, so Anakin was happy for the most part. Then she announced that he was about to have a grandchild, and Anakin's heart soared, making him remember with a bittersweet fondness the best days of his relationship with Padme. But then a bunch of Imperial loyalists tried to crash his daughter's baby shower. That just made him feel ... angry.
