Description
We had an Army Cadet Force unit at school (Haberdashers, New Cross).
Parade for visiting top brass of the Royal Fuseliers, to which we were attached.
Headmaster next to aformentioned brass.
Rifles, all Lee Enfield SMLE Mark 3 star, and dated , mostly, 1917, still in full working order and used at the annual army camp in the summer holidays.
The ACF paraded every Thursday afternoon, and those who wouldn't join (you were all supposed to) had to spend a good hour or so writing an essay for the Headmaster.
All great fun. I even reached the rank of Lance-corporal!.
The x, by the way, marks my younger brother; photo is about 1959, I think.
