Description
The title means "natural scale". This pencil drawing is a couple of weeks old or so. While the image is aesthetically pleasing, artistically I consider it a failure. The idea was supposed to be playing with issues of scale vs. foreground and background. We have this really big flower, which is behind the medium sized wolf, and all you can see of the wolf is the outline because of these small mountains which are filling him up.
It was all well and good until I got to the sky of the mountains. I couldn't figure out what to do with it so I decided to make it a night sky with stars and the moon. I didn't realize until later that with the howling wolf, this ruined the whole thing: Rather than being an exploration of ideas of scale, instead it turned into a picture about how wolves howl at the moon, which is a cheap and tired cliché.
I am classifying this as "surrealism" because I didn't see "symbolism" as a choice.

Interesting work, something comes very close to the Escher. His famous work is the water, which flows endlessly even against gravity or the crazy crate.

Comparing me to Escher is extremely high praise! Especially on a picture I don't even like that much. Thank you for your commentary on the three pictures I uploaded today.
