Red Princess of Mars - I had so much fun painting this one. I first did a render in DAZ 4.11, and then I did a digital painting of the image (I just purchased an upgrade to the painting software I use and this was the first painting using the upgrade. They did an AMAZING job with the upgrade. The paint brushes behave MUCH better than before.)
Digital painting is not like running a filter or preset in an imaging program. You start with a blank canvas, and add paint just like you would in a real painting. However, you can set it up to automatically sample colors from an image. This allows you to paint without dipping your brush every time you change colors, and thus, speeding the process. You can also overlay the sampled image (tracing paper) over your canvas. With practice (LOTS of practice - I've been doing it for 7 years now) you can paint quickly.
