Description
Pencils: An abstraction I drew a few months ago. I am uploading this because I am working on a second abstract image which develops a lot of the same themes, and this should give some element of reference and comparison for the new image once it is completed.
I think I have learned quite a bit since drawing this, and the new image should be an improvement.

Thanks. The primary theme of this image is the use of empty space as a protagonist.
Secondary themes are mostly about ways to create contrast with Straight vs curving lines, organic vs geometric shapes, highly detailed sections vs low detail areas, realistic shading vs shading done for aesthetic reasons only, and just standard dark vs light values.
I consider this image not completely successful primarily because it fails at its primary objective. The empty shape towards the bottom is not really the main focal point of the image, as it was supposed to be.
The new drawing is coming along well, and should improve on this one in almost every way, managing the same major theme more successfully, and exploring the secondary themes more completely. It also just plain looks cooler, which is not the primary intent at all, but what gives?
I am a better artist now than I was when I drew this.
