Description
Captain April you are requested to report to the San Francisco Navy Yard to oversee the final construction of a second Constitution class heavy cruiser
registry number 1701.
Cmdr. April Burnham was being rewarded for her outstanding service as first officer of the USS Bellerophon, a Prospero class exploration cruiser. She has a niece, Michael Burnham, who was only 10 years old when her parents died in a Klingon raid of Doctari Alpha in 2236. April was too far from the outpost when the tragedy occurred, by the time she saw Michael again the girl had bonded with Amanda Grayson and Sarek of Vulcan.

Nicely done and excellent backstory. I've my own problems with the idea of building such a large space vehicle within a gravity well, since I grew up with such cool scifi art of zero-g construction. But I guess if your society has cracked anti-gravity you use it to the fullest extent.
