Description

I have decided to try painting after a long time. I love cats so it seemed like the best subject to try. Although painting fur for the first time was quite a challenge I enjoyed the experience very much :) I used Photoshop to paint it and for reference a picture of one of the kittens we have here :) For those interested this is the step by step process how I painted the kitten :)

Um… so is this your reference photo or is it the painting it self? I would have said it is the reference…? If this is actually your painting, then I can't other than fall on my butt and bow in awe before you and say that this is a stellar beautiful work of yours…

The skill on display here is mind-boggling.

I have always been mildly skeptical of photorealism as a style, because I tend to feel like most of the creative element of art is forsaken in favor of pure reproduction, but more recently I find that I am coming around to see it not only as a technical display, but also as a beautiful style of art in its own right. This image is truly impressive, and a good example of the kind of work that has been making me change my mind. Thank you for sharing it.
