The first amendment of the U.S.A. protected any speech (even "hate speech,” as long as we are not promoting violence on anybody. It is legal to say "hate whatever,” but it is a crime to say, "kill whatever"; this has been clarified by the supreme court of justice of the U.S.A. The freedom of expression does not have that protection, in Europe.
