Description

The 50 daughters of Nereus are sea nymphs; the Nereids. They symbolise all that is beautiful and kind about the sea, and dwell with their father in a silver grotto under the Agean, where they sing and dance. Individually, each represents an aspect of the sea from salty brine, to sea foam, sand, rocks, waves and currents, as well as the skills of mariners. Here are two: Melite of the Calm Sea and Actaea of the Sea Shore.
